Good news all around in this article:

http://www.psxextreme.com/ps3-news/790.html

1. Sony is finding many ways to reduce the cost of ps3 production.
2. Price cuts may soon be on the way.
3. They aren't doing anything major like taking the blu-ray player out, just cutting redundant hardware and using new chipsets.
4. The first new machines should hit by the summer after the next wave of games comes in the spring.
5. Break even by this time next year isn't so bad considering they might be cutting prices too.

I might have to buy a second one as a dedicated BluRay player/secondary gaming system for guests...

If it's a decent price drop I just might have to pick one up. Then the PS3 and Xbox 360 can live in harmony next to the 42" 1080p LCD I plan to pick up by then :D

'course if they don't behave I might have to put them on opposite sides of the tv lol

Still waiting for the 360 to do this to. Supposed to be using a 65nm chip, have HDMI out, and a quieter drive. I'll wait for all this to buy one, and wait for the new chipset for the PS3 to get one of those.

Don't waste your money, I've had the 360 for a year and I bought the ps3 in december, thinking I was going to stop playing the 360 since I'm a big ps2 fan.... wrong.... I have played my ps3 5 times since december, and half those times is because my friends came over and wanted to play the ps3.

Huh, it says that the PS3 actually contains some hardware from the PS2 to run the previous games. No wonder it costs a fortune. I am still waiting for some good games to get any use out of mine.

How's Resistance: Fall of Man? That looked like a pretty cool game. Is it too cheesy once you start playing? GOW is a hard game to be compared to. It's my favorite FPS on a console for sure.

I played the Resistance Demo off of the Playstation Network (A great, free feature of PS3 by the way) and the graphics and gameplay were amazing. FPS's are not my cup of tea, but if they were, Resistance would be a favorite I'm sure.

Ok now I'm confused....Does GOW stand for God of War or Gears of War? I was referring to Gears of War.

    GOW = God Of War

I wouldn't pick it up untill it had more titles that I wanted... FFXIII for instance...

Oblivion was what sold me on going ahead and getting a 360... a couple really good games that I want is enough for me to buy it, cause if they can get those right then more will follow :D

Yeah, oblivion. I got so caught up in exploring the world that I don't think I've made any progress on the main quest for two months, lol...

how many hours do you have in? my current character is over 50 but i've restarted many times... i've probably put at least 200 hrs into that game... IHMO that justifies the cost of the system itself... hell you'd spend a lot more than that on a 3 day vacation...

You can track the hours? Where are they listed? Gotta make sure the other half doesn't find out...

All I know is that I finally got all the way around the main map and completed all the wizard quests and a lot of the side ones. Now I have to figure out what to do at wizard u. Did you decide to vamp or not to vamp. I finally got tired of always frying in the sun, so I got the cure.
