Well I am back with some initial impressions. First off the rounds are short but I must say this game is FANTASTIC. Gorgeous visuals, solid controls, great sound design (certainly takes interactive music to a new level) and most importantly a BLAST to play. Now keep in mind I have always been a huge fan of the Def Jam series but they absolutely nailed this game. Solid framerate even with the entire environment shaking, pulsing, breaking apart, and exploding. Great character detail with damage modeling. Big Boi and TI get seriously messed up, scratches, bruises, debris on their clothing, you name it. The demo has a washed out look to it which definitely adds some character but the lighting is fantastic. The sun apparently is synced up with the beat as you can see the shadows shift on the wires which are being casted onto the convenience store.

Even if you are not a hip-hop and rap fan but you like fighting games or even eye candy for that matter make absolutely sure you check this demo out!

I might rent it, but I could never bring myself to buying this game.

Yeah, its definitely not for everyone. However being a fan of the series and a fan of Hip-Hop and Rap among many other genres I absolutely love cranking the volume and beating the hell out of other rappers while the whole world falls apart at the seams. Haha.

I downloaded the demo...waited what seemed forever for the game to load up (what in the world is with EA and the constant, long loading times? Just to load the friggin' menu?). Anyway, I barely made it through one fight before I raced to delete it off the harddrive...sorry, just not my thing at all. Not even close. But, I guess there is a game for everybody.

I know, I didn't learn that "If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all," lesson. :p

In all honesty, the graphics are pretty good, but the controls seem God awful. The concept could be a little more refined, IMO. I'm more into fighting games with combos, and the best fighting game was Killer Instinct. I'd love to see that series make it's way to the next gen consoles....

The big rumor is that Killer Instinct 3 is coming for the 360. Absolutely can't wait if it's true, and Rareware won't deny it. Orchid was amazing in that game.

Was Killer Intinct the one with dinosaurs?
    Or was that Primal Intinct?
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

You are thinking of Primal Rage (dinos)...KI had insane (90+ hit) combos, CG graphics...was pretty cool in its day. Wonder how they would revamp it for modern times...always really liked the character designs they had.

I pray they can do a better job on KI3 than they did with KI2. I absolutely love the original Killer Instinct, but the sequel sucked a$$. Not to mention the 2 founding members of Rare just recently left the company. Here's to hoping...

Alright, I rented this. And looking back at what I have said in the past, and forgetting how racist and how badly this game stereotypes certain cultures in our country, how its demeaning to women, offensive on many levels, and in general consisten with many of society's problems, this game is totally baller and I will be buying it.

    This time, mark my words!

:D It really is a matter of giving it a chance through all its gross generalizations but it being so over the top adds to the appeal for me. Much like how I would have a living room full of drunk friends duking it out in Fight Night Round 3, Icon brings it to a whole new level with the system blaring and everyone getting rowdy.

I would imagine that Icon would be the perfect post-bar game.
