Texas Polksters Gathering!

Ok so it looks like we have a large crew of Texans on the board and a few of us want to setup a gathering of sorts. Typical stuff, beer, booze, debauchery, MUSIC, and maybe some gear demo's.

Most likely this will be held in Austin because of it's central location, and we will probably make a weekend out of it. There is a TON of stuff to do in Austin. So once we get a head count we can start planning.

With enough people we can get a group rate at a hotel, or maybe myself and Steve (and any other Austinites) will put you up for a night or two on the airbed.

Can I get a "hell yeah I'm interested" from those of you who are?

    I'll have my complete LSi HT hooked up by then :) Should have the FXs installed tonight. No sub, and I'm in an apartment, but still can give a good demo.

    I've got a futon, so I can hold a couple people.

    A day trip to Enchanted Rock might also be kinda cool, and then hit Fredricksburg that night.

    I've been waiting to see who all responds. I fugured I'd give it a week or two to get *everyone* on the list.

    Looks like we're the only willing TX fans to get together, and TrappedUnderIce.

    That's 4 people. I could do that in my apartment for some demo'ing. I have a futon someone could crash on if needed.

    Ok well this settles it. This is it, so lets start tossing around ideas.

    Steve, since you are from Austin as well I expect full participation from you. :)

    I'm thinking the last weekend in September or the first weekend in October would be good. I'll start looking through the paper for some good jazz or blues to check out.... and everything else is up in the air. Dave and busters is always fun.

    Steve if you really want to do enchanted rock I think that's a great idea, but we'll have to make sure everyone is in shape for an all day hike first! I'm more of a "eats and nightlife" kinda person, so I'll work on that. You wanna work on the daytime activites Steve?

    Lots of planning Troy, LOTS. ;)

    I just threw out Enchanted Rock, I've been wanting to go back, maybe next weekend I'll do a camping trip up there.

    Anyway. I think we definately need to hit Shady Grove, I think it'a part of the Austin tour. We could also go see a movie at the iMax theater. Check for bands and stuff Phuz, but I'd like to keep the bars/smoke/crap at a minimum ;)

    That sounds pretty damn good too! I found a shop up north (where I found my Rotel Amp) that has lots of good stuff to play with, and we can spend hours there.

    Drinking/bars/smoking? But I *like* all of those things! C'mon, we gotta have some fun. As entertaining as Russ is on the forums, I'd like to see just how his wit will respond to a little 151. ;)

    FYI I'm a bigtime smoker, the legal stuff that is......

    Russman bring a lady friend if you've got one. My girl can keep up with the guys, but I'm sure she'd like some company of the estrogenic kind. No need to make this a complete sausage fest.

    Oh yeah, and I have an apartment with a comlpetely empty dining room that is perfect to set up 2ch systems (at least 3 will fit). My neighbors are pretty cool too... so bring all you want to play with.

    Ok, so we have 4, lets just do it. Get the emails going and lets set a date. Maybe this will spark some other 'get -togethers' after all is said and done.

    I'll bring a mobile man-cave for your dining room phuz, and a couple pairs of speaks...

    If there are more people, I'm thinking Polk would step up to the plate, being as this is there 30th anniversary.... So get organizing fellas, get something going in your area.

    Damn I wish I was closer! I'd be up for the drinking and smoking thing... the legal stuff.... but if Nascarmann was around with some of the hill billy shine i'd be all over that!

    Just drove ~3kmiles and just aint up to another trip.
