Her early LP's were stellar with '72's Give It Up my personal fav. Track 5, "Love Me Like a Man", is Bonnie at her bluesiest best.

Saw her perform three times in the early 70's with Little Feat opening and doubling as her back up band. Great shows all...

Saw a great show of her's at Wolftrap in VA. with the Fabulous Thunderbirds as the openers!

In rock, I would have to go with Amy Lee of Evanescence. Their newest album, 'Evanescence', is one of their best.
In Pop, I would go with Sara Bareilles, hands-down. She would also take the title of favorite female artist. I find her best album is 'Little Voice', with her best song being 'Gravity'.
In country/bluegrass, I would go with Alison Krauss. 'Lonely runs both ways' would be my favorite album. Also in bluegrass, Sara Watkins, formerly a lead singer in Nickel Creek is quite fantastic.

This thread is HUGE and growing by the minute...and I like all of your choices, mostly. One of you young "tecky" folks needs to put something together so we may sample each others top picks...kind of a spot to up-load your favorites and then download others for comparison. We will have to be clever so we are not considered to be music pirates or operating a ptp operation...anyone up for it.

Loreena McKennitt will always be my favorite female singer, followed closely by Candace Night of Blackmore's Night.
