SW front wall placement

I recently moved my PSW505 from the front left corner to the front center, under the center channel speaker. I actually built a custom table that the
center channel speaker sits on above the subwoofer.

My HT is 13x21. I have LSi15/CSi5 in the front with FXi5/Fxi3 rounding out the
surrounds. The corner loading was too "boomy" even after tweaking. Moving to
the center, flipping the phase to 180 produced a much cleaner, tighter bass.

However, I feel (or should I say, don't "feel") that the SPL is lacking for the movie experience, especially the sub-sonic freq. Any attempt to increase the
volume only results is "port farts"

Maybe it's time to retire the 505 and consider alternatives. I am not looking for earth shattering bass. I feel the LSi15 do a good job at low to mid bass musically.

Any suggestions?

I do recommend retiring the Polk sub. They are not the best. In lieu of that though, you could try placing the sub in your actual seating position, play something with lots of bass and walk around the room to see where it sounds the best. The theory is that's where you would ideally place the sub. If space prohibits, you could try a sub EQ such as the Velodyne SMS-1 (helped me tremendously) or the more complicated but less expensive Behringer (sp?).

I did that as well as used the AVIA disk. For my room the center location seemed the cleanest. The room reinforces the mid to upper bass (~70-100 hz) Moving away from the corner helped somewhat, but I do think a better SW may be in my future. I'll have a look at the SMS next time I am on the Outlaw page.

I heard that Behringer might have a parametric EQ that might work. Nothing against the SMS-1 (except $$$). I don't mind playing around with my SPL meter adn Avia disk

    Any comments?
