Hello, i am considering the Monitor 50 in replacement for my Rti4's for my Pc 2.1.
I couldnt get it all by myself. so i'd like to ask you guys~

What are the advantages of the Monitor 50 over the Rti4?

So far i know its bass response and sensitivity?

But what about the tweeter? will i still get the clear, smooth, highs? are they the same Vifa tweet?

The Rti4 has the Power Port and ARC ports. i especially Love the ARC port. the mids are exactly what they say it is. Natural. not too strong, not too weak. Just the perfect amount for me.
I've never heard the Monitor 50 before.
What can you add to the M50 for me?

What are your goals with this upgrade (more side- if not down-grade)?

The new Monitor is a very good speaker line, no question about it, but I would not replace the rti4 with a Monitor. Monitor 70 mmm…maybe, but not the 50.
The specs of these 2 speakers are nearly identical, including the efficiency and bass extension; you really need to look at the +/- 3 dB numbers, and there only 3 Hz separate rit4 from Monitor 50.

To my ears highs and midrange sound better on RTi, too, and you already said how much you like the mids from your rti4.

Regarding the Monitor 50's, I find them too warm in the lower midrange and not deep enough to justify such a (relative to the RTi4, at least) large enclosure. It might have been the carpeted listening room my folks have their 50's in, but I've also listened to the entire line in the stores, too, and this seems to hold (I did enjoy the 70's a bit).

I'd make a bigger jump if you're going to upgrade. Have you considered the RTi8's? Not much bigger than the 50's but much more compelling presence, IMO. And you could use the 4's for surrounds if you ever decided to go that way...

My goal would to be getting a larger sound from my speakers, generally. with the extra woofer and larger port/enclosure i would expect it to have deeper fuller sound. more 3D?

yea, i already admire the sound of this lovely tweeter. and the great mids...

Ah, im trying to keep the cost to a minimal... my goal is simply tower speakers. though i'd love to have the same great sound. and yea, i'd love to have the Rti8. it looks absolutely fabulous.

Go with quality over quantity (or size). I had cheap towers (infinity entra three) and Rti4s. I chose to make the Rti4 my mains. They sounded better, not ness. louder. When I save up I will ge matching RTi8.
    Harman Kardon 245
    Polk CSi30
    Polk RTi6
    Polk RTi4 (2)
    Polk R150 (2)

    Infinity Entra Three (2)
    JBL PB10 Sub
    JBL 500 (2)
