Many may already know but just in case someone is wanting a 971 it has been discontinued by Oppo. I don't know if any dealers may still have any.

    I've read that the progressive scan doesn't work unless you have an HD TV. Any truth or thoughts. I don't have one now so I figure the picture quality won't change but the audio should be awesome.

    You have to have a TV with a DVI or HDMI input to take advantage of the 971, it won't upconvert over component inputs! Only 480i is available over component.
