To AMP or not to AMP????

Thinking about adding a Parasound 5250 5 Channel Amplifier (250wpc x5 @ 8 ohms) to power the following speakers in my system. Just need some advice or recommendations on which route I should take to get the better overall sound from my speakers without frying them in the process:
**System is primarily used for Home Theater, not much music
AV Receiver:Sony STR-DA5000ES (170wpc@8ohms)
Fronts...Polk RTi12
Center...Polk CSi5
Rear Surround..Polk Fxi3
1. Will the amp be too much power for the CSi5 & FXi3's?? (The Rti12's are starving for more power).
2. Or should I just focus on purchasing a 2 channel amp Parasound Halo A21 (250wpc x 2) for the front speakers. Since the pre/amp is already pushing (170wpc x 7)???

1. No! There's no such reality as too much power.
2. Maybe. This is a great option if you plan to use this system more often for 2-channel playback.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

The Parasound should run rings around the Sony receiver.
As Early said, there is no such thing as too much power, as long as it is clean power. The Parasound is good stuff and will be a nice piece to have if you do decide to upgrade later on.

Definitely get yourself an amp.

Thanks for input (So would I be better off going with the 5 channel amp as opposed to the 2 channel). Both are rated @ 250wpc)?? I guess I should pick up a power conditioner as well!!!

If you're using it for HT, yes. Then again, that also depends on how much you want to spend. -

Power does NOT blow speakers... I.E. a 200 WPC RMS speaker fed 500 watts of high current power will not blow; nonetheless, a 500 watt POS power supply will fry a set of speakers.. Watts never destroy speakers!! DISTORTION DOES!!! -
Get the 5 channel Parasound! All of your speakers & both of your ears will thank you!!!Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2

You will be better off with a 5 channel amp since you do more HT.Do you hear that buzzing noise?
