i was given a kenwood vr-3090 from a friend not too long ago. Its been sitting in a box and i decided today to break it out and test it. well the power turns on but nothing shows up on the display, however, whenever i push the a or b speaker set buttons they light. i cant even use the remote to try to navigate my way through the inputs to test if i get signal or not because the remote it came with it the most retarded thing i have ever seen. its one of those touchscreen command centers that wont even let me do simple functions like change a stinking input. cant figure the stupid thing out so im not sure where to go from here. is it possible its something small or should i consider it gone?

It's probably fried. Unfortunately, that Kenwood isn't worth trying to send out to be fixed. A similar thing happened to my old Sony. Might want to ask your friend if it was broken when he gave it to you...

well a couple of things.. the display may be turned off... in which case you need to figure out how to use the remote... the other thing is if you're not getting any sound from th Kenwood.. a speaker switch may not be turned on..

do you have the instruction manual? give it to your 8 yr old. they are really good about figuring this stuff out..

well let me ask you this: when a receiver is powered on should you hear anything happen? I do know that with most receivers you hear a clicking sound when they power on. I dont hear anything when i turn on the kenwood.
