So happy!

Finally got my HT put together - I know it's modest in comparison to what the rest of you are rocking, but I'm happy! At first, I wasn't truly impressed with the fronts - it was detailed and clean, but didn't have the presence I expected. Solution: Place the L and R's about 3 feet further out from their original locations. Extraordinary how much difference that made. Also, thanks to those who steered me toward getting proper rear channels (previous thread) - made a vast difference as well.
If anyone has any budget suggestions to improve this setup, let me know! Regardless, I'm blown away by this speaker series.
Audio:
rti6 fronts (cherry)
csi3 center (cherry)
fxi3 surrounds - running rear wall bipole mode (white)
psw10 (cherry)
Onkyo HTR520 receiver (left over from the htib - replaced all original speakers.)
White monster speaker wire (16 gauge) all around + monster sub cable.

NICE! congrats. looks like it should be a good system to use for a long time. I like those FXi's for surrounds. Somehow in small rooms, they just work great. I have a small HT room.. that's how i know.
Enjoy!
Nice job going with the cherry finish. THey look great, IMHO!PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

Congrats Halcyon100! That's a nice combo you've got. It sure beats HT in a box! A future consideration may be to upgrade your receiver. That system would sound much cleaner with more dynamics if you had a little better receiver. Don't be afraid of getting a used or refurbished unit. It's a nice way to upgrade on a budget. Good luck and welcome to Club Polk!Carl

Halcyon100, congrats on the setup. I'm impressed with your choose of front projection - thats what seperates the men from the boys in this "HT hobbie".;)
ENJOY!! -

I think that's something I can hear - the rti6's especially - don't seem to open up until I bump the audio up considerably. (When I do, they're wonderful, but I'm betting it could be better.) Any suggestions for a receiver that would compliment this speaker combination?
Thanks! -
Does your onkyo have pre-outs? If it does, a decent 5 channel amp would be the winner. Otherwise, get yourself a decent H/k receiver with pre-outs and enjoy!Lovin that music year after year.

I'd suggest a Denon 3803 (used around $450), or check out This Marantz for $499 new (B Stock). I'd suggest something with 110 wpc or more.Carl

dittoPlease. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks

lots of guys here have been in the hobby a long time, hence, a long time of upgrades. the general public isnt really like most of us on here, and that system you got is going to drop some jaws, especially those who really arent accustomed to what a real home theater sounds like (they will when they get to your house though ).
looks like your off to one hell of a start. That system will do the job, and do it well for years to come. have fun with it, and welcome to the sicknessLiving Room 2 Channel -

Congrats on your system.
Becoming a audiophile/HT enthusiast is a sickness. I am in the process of putting together my first HT, and setting it up, i've spent about 250 on cables alone.
