Is there any significant overall difference in the rti10's than the rti8's? I have listened to the 8's but not the 10's. I am not sure which to buy because I do have a subwoofer and the 10's just contain larger drivers...

Listen to both the 8's & 10's & choose whichever one you like the most.

The 10's will give you more bass from the speaker itself, which I think is never a bad thing, and greater separation. Obviously I've graduated to another level of speaker, but I found the 10's were quite good for the price as long as I owned them. I thought they were the perfect compromise between the 12's and the 8's. Some people say the midrange is a little recessed unless placed well, but I never had that problem. I guess I always placed them well.

I'm not sure the 12's are the right choice unless you have a lot of amplification. Plus, with a sub, that really might just be more bass than you need. Although it's pretty awesome when you're floor standing speakers go down to 20 Hz at only -6 dB. Sometimes I'll just turn off the sub and listen late at night and still have a lot of bass. Great amplification would really be required to own the 12's though. Ditto on the 10's, but you can certainly get away with less a lot more. Still, my 10's really started to sing when I got my B&K receiver, and later my Audioquest Mont Blanc speaker cables. Happy listening.

What were your impressions after listening to the Rti8's?

I did change my view: The 12 is not the better option without a lot of power (200-400 w) . The 10 is the better if you don´t have a sub (with a sub may be too much bass), so the 8s are a great pair with a good sub.

Only for this: the highs and mids are better on 8s and with one really good sub you have better bass than with 2 or 3 midwoffers (like has the 10s and 12s).

    Just my 2 cents.

FWIW, I can't complain about my 8's. They were good hooked up to just my HK but sound great on my monoblocks I just bought. Paired with a sub they are a good match, leaving more money for a great sub. (if your budget was for the 12s plus a sub).either way you can't go wrong.
