I'm looking to pick up some old RT7s, want that nice warm sound for the living room I now find myself with. Have not gone speaker shopping for a while?
How often are they coming up for sale these days? (If I miss they first pair I see how long wait for another to pop up). Second, what do you guys think is a reasonable price?
cheers

jays,
Obviously your best bet would be ebay. The ones that I have seen usually go around 200 a pair, some a little more, some less.
Good luck, I personally think that the RT7 (excluding the LSi's which I haven't heard) is the best bookshelf Polk made.

I agree with BDT....there is a pair on ebay right now....Oh, the bottle has been to me, my closes friend, my worse enemy!

Man, just thinking about RT7's makes my pants go crazy.....Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service.

Would it be the 2 ports side by side really close together......Oh, the bottle has been to me, my closes friend, my worse enemy!

Thanks guys.
I'm not commited to only RT7s, I just know they sound very, very nice. RT10, LS50, etc. are all in the ballpark I guess.
I have found myself with a room that needs better speakers and some upgrade cash at ther same time for a change.
I have RT3s at the front and some rather ordinary Sony rears and centre, I want them gone. I only have the dosh to go RT3s to the rear and either
1. 2nd hand fronts and new centre or
2. new fronts and 2nd hand centre.
My first instinct was something like RT7s and a new CSi30/CS245i. The RT7s are a very flexible size, not as location limited as floorstanders and a good new centre would just make them so sweet.
Am I on the right track? You guys think it is worth looking at other models or just being calm and waiting for the RT7s.
Cheers

My personal opinion? I think the RT7 is the ticket. The RT3's will match up pretty well although the RT3 has a silk tweet and the RT7 has a tri-laminate tweeter. As far as a center, me personally, I'd go the retro route and try and bag an older CS300 or CS350LS. The 350LS is flat out cool and can be found on ebay pretty cheap.

troy-d, you are right about the rt-7; love mine, i use them for my mains on top of two psw-650 subs with pedestals, the only polk that might be better is the lsi-9.. rt-7 mains
rt-20p surounds
cs-400i front center
cs-350 ls rear center

2- psw-650 , subs
1- 15" audiosource sub

Just have to say the RT-7 is one fine speaker. I have owned a pair for about five years. I would say they are on par with speakers of much higher price. Paid 450 bucks new for them. Still thump really well considering they are bookshlef speakers. I use them as my front speakers. If I ever upgrade it will be something lile the RTi150s or better. That says alot in my opnion. They are excellent for the price.

Yes go with the RT-7's--i still swear by mine-i bought them brand new in late 1996 and paid 450 also..i had a choice of black or woodgrain--i chose the black..hook them up with a decent sub and you got one hell of a system..-Even though i just purchesed a new pair of ML Prodigy's---the lil' RT-7's are still in my heart--they are one of Polks better offerings..Go for the RT'sSystem #2

I enjoy my RT7's too. They serve as the fronts in my family room HT. As others have said, you won't go wrong with the 7's. Take your time and search for a nice pair, you'll be glad you did.
Edit: I found my original receipt (8/98) for my RT7's and I paid $320 for the pair from a local B&M. Hell, they sound even better now! -
If you want smallish floorstanding, LS50's are great. I've had mine (with a CS350 center) for about 7 years and they still sound awesome. Everyone that see's them comments on how good they look.
