    here is a link to some very cheap cables and such. i cant vouch for there products but if you want something low cost. its an option.

    Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

    Frank at Signal cable makes a real nice digital XLR---I have one, but use it. $49 i think for my 1 footer.
