Denon AVR-4806CI Opinions?

What do you think of this receiver to replace my Denon AVR-5700? I am getting a little frustrated with the lack of hook ups for HD, since I have a Mitsubishi WD-57731 1080P tv. I also a Xbox 360 and plan to get either a Blu-Ray or HD DVD player. I have a complete set of home theater speakers.
Will I be able to set up my system with the on screen menu in HD or will I need to switch back to normal viewing. I like the idea of having a touch screen remote that will be easy to operate like my touch screen GPS in my car.

Hi Henry-
Denon will update all of their upper level receivers including the 4806CI this year(4808CI?) according to info released at CES. The updates include HDMI 1.3, onboard decoding for the new DTS and Dolby lossless HD audio formats, pc setup, HD Radio, and other "goodies". I want to upgrade my Denon 3805 that I'm using as a prepro when these are released.
Checkout audioholics and secrets CES coverage for more info. If you still want the 4806 the price should fall with the new model release.

Don;
Thanks for the reply. I can get it for $2795 thru AAFES including shipping, since I am retired Army. It is already on the AAFES web site, unlike some of the local high end home theater stores around here.
It sure sounds tempting, but is there something better?
Or would I be better off going with a Pioneer Elite VSX-84Txi? I really don't need the ability to have home theater in three rooms like the Denon.

There's *always* something better... but the Denon is very very good.

Henry;
That sounds like a good deal, I think that the 4806CI lists for $4000. There is a large thread called "The Official Denon AVR-4806 Thread" at avsforum that has a great deal of information from owners of this model.

Don;
I just have to see it in person and check how easy it is to operate before I purchase it. I like the quality of Denon so I am a bit partial to Denon, since I had no trouble with my receiver.
I didn't know AVS had a forum on the 4806, and I need to check that out.
Thanks,

Henry- I don't know if you looked at the Owner's Manual pdf for the 4806CI on Denon's site- I printed this out, less the remote codes, when I was researching this model. There are a lot of features that are not listed in the reviews. Don

Buy a lower powered Dennon with the same features and buy external amps if you are going to sink that much money into it. You'll be happier with the sound.HT

Don;
I tried to print a copy of the manual from the Denon site, but for some reason it wouldn't let me. But the 4806CI sure sounds great to me.

I have some space issues and my Salamander stand is full, and I don't want or need to get components. Besides I am not that much of an Audiophile.

I would buy a B&K Components AVR505 S2 if I was going to spend that kind of money.
No HDMI though... I guess you have to choose your passion. The Denon stuff is great at video switching. They are also quite good on the audio side for a consumer receiver. There is better stuff out there from a purist audio standpoint though... which is where I tend to gravitate.
If you're not really into the audio thing then the Denon is about the best option on the market.
