Mounting tv

Is there a formula or a standered dimension for mounting a tv. How hi off the ground should the tv be for the viewing. The room is approx 13 feet across. Also now i will be mounting my front speakers to the wall, again what would be the perfect height for audio sound placement.
Thanks, Doug

I would never wall mount the LSi9s. Too heavy.

I use the b-tech stands for my rear LSi7's and they work great. (I do have the sides removed, but I am pretty sure they will fit with the wood sides on.)

Mounting for the front speakers are tweeters at ear level when seated.

Mounting for the TV is your choice. Especially for a plasma as the viewing angle does not affect the brightness of the screen. I would say for most the middle of the screen at eye level seated, but I have seen them mounted pretty high above a fireplace and it still wasn't that bad. You might want to mount it high enough that when your drop down screen comes down to watch movies on, it covers your entire TV... :)

BTW - you can see the b-tech stands in my showcase by clicking on the quote in my sig.

It seems most people mount their tv's way too high. Why would you want to be looking up at the tv all the time? Go eye level or a touch higher.

Eye level from a sitting position would be ideal. But I didn't have that option in the living room because it's above the fireplace, so it's pretty high on the wall (it's a big fireplace). Originally I thought it would be annoying (but I mostly watch on the big screen down stairs, so I didn't care that much), but it turns out it's not bad at all. At that height (a little above eye level from a standing position), it's a good position when lounging on the couch.

DIY network just ran a 5 part home theater workshop. If you do a search on their site, they'll give you a formula for screen heigth. Personally I thought it sounded too high for my tastes. The bottom of our plasma screen sits at about eye level, and it sits about 10 ft from the seating area.
My equipment sig felt inadequate and deleted itself.
