Going in a different direction for the Spendor rig, so these subs are up on the chopping block. Great shape, full working order. These are passive subwoofers, you will need external amplification. External crossover recommended for music, if you use filtering in your receiver for movies, it's not needed.
Retail $760, take the pair home for $old Sami

Russ to help others out, what amount of watts would you recommend to power one ?

SVS packaged these with the Samson S700, which is 350 w/ch. Wouldn't go any higher than 500.
Do these have the updated driver? Excellent price either way.Denon 3802

Original drivers.
100w will drive them, for heavy HT use, I'd look at 250-400.
Troy, a single powered version of these kept up with Mark's Maggies at PF - very tuneful, much moreso than their box versions, imo.

I wouldn't spend more than $300 or so on an amp.
Here's an example. If you actually think about that particular amp, be sure the low-freq filter can be by passed.
Here's another.
If you're budget minded, you can power these with darn near anything around the house until you have more funds.Denon 3802

I never heard a SVS sub. So I have no idea what would be ideal for me or if I should just keep my old Polk 505.
I pass for now. I have to save for a new 1080p PJ.

Ask for an audition from someone close by....
I had never heard an SVS until I purchased a pair. Mine (20-39+'s tuned @ 16hz) are louder, clearer and deeper than anything I have heard before or since.Denon 3802

Better not. That'd probably kill my wallet . I have to resist the urge.

I bought a pair of 20-39's and power them with just a Adcom 545 II. They deliver very accurate, great bass. Plus, if you have a strange room, having two subs is a nice benefit to assure placement. I have mine in a basement with two open sides from the seating area and was able to put one in front and one in back. I love it. This is clearly the best buy in bass that I have seen on this list.

The bottom end of the Thiel's is a little lacking. . . but even one of these would be overkill.
Might need to listen to these sometime, maybe this weekend? I want to hear what all the hype is about on these SVS's.Stereo Rig: Hales Revelation 3, Musical Fidelity CD-Pre 24, Forte Model 3 amp, Lexicon RT-10 SACD, MMF-5 w/speedbox, Forte Model 2 Phono Pre, Cardas Crosslink, APC H15, URC MX-950, Lovan Stand

I thought it would be overkill too Andy, but I really wanted stereo subwoofers for this particular music setup, and it was nothing short of fantastic. The dual svs are capable of wall-shaking bass, sure - but they are loafing for listening to music at 'normal' levels. Very fast, I can't believe they are ported.
On that note, I could probably pull a tube amp out to run them on, but I've already taken them out of the system, and the sand amp that was driving them is already down the road.
Cheers,

Oh, no problem then. If I'm up at my parents in Mckinney this weekend, maybe I'll holler at you but no need to set them up for a demo.
I need to sell some of my quickly rising inventory before I bring anything else into the apt anyway. Also, not sure what the neighbors would think of 1 or 2 SVSs ontop of my Mirage S12 and the lil Kef in the bedroom. If you decide to ship 'em, they are mine.

That one Mark had with the Maggies sounded fantastic. Someone needs to man up on these. SOON.
I got to much other **** on the hook right now.

I know I was impressed with that setup. I was a bit skeptical until I actually heard it. Of course it was total overkill...but I like that in a rig!"Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais

Good snag, Sami. I thought I would give someone else a chance to pick up something insanely priced good from Russman this time around.
Are you planning to mount those in the Skyline?Stereo Rig: Hales Revelation 3, Musical Fidelity CD-Pre 24, Forte Model 3 amp, Lexicon RT-10 SACD, MMF-5 w/speedbox, Forte Model 2 Phono Pre, Cardas Crosslink, APC H15, URC MX-950, Lovan Stand

I'll propably split them up with Dave. I don't really know where I would use it, maybe in the office rig or something. I already have SVS PCU in the HT, DIY 15" sub in the 2ch. rig, an extra 15" driver and a plate amp for second DIY sub etc...AndyGwis wrote:Are you planning to mount those in the Skyline?
Skyline most likely will not have any audio system in it after I'm done. It's additional weight and it's no good anyways as noise will drown most of the sound. Unless of course I want to kill my ears, which I'm not planning to do. -
It was just a joke, but I guess I wouldn't put it past someone here to implement SVS subs into car audio.Stereo Rig: Hales Revelation 3, Musical Fidelity CD-Pre 24, Forte Model 3 amp, Lexicon RT-10 SACD, MMF-5 w/speedbox, Forte Model 2 Phono Pre, Cardas Crosslink, APC H15, URC MX-950, Lovan Stand

Sami, you PM box is full, but I was just replying to let me know when you are ready to part with one. My wife's family is from the DFW area and we have a bunch of bank branches up there, too. -

Dave, anytime, depending on when/if I buy them from Russ. -
Got your pm's....Sami, we are a go for Saturday, just let me know a ballpark time brotha.

Sami, didn't hear back from you on Sunday - let me know if we are a go or not.
Otherwise, last call, local only, for the pair - they sound great together, and I don't want to split them up. I'll be snapping photos for Audiogon tonight.
