Feedback on RTi System for sale
Hi. I'm contemplating purchasing the following system locally.
2 Polk Audio RTi70 Tower Speakers
2 Polk Audio RTi38 Bookshelf Speakers
1 Polk Audio CSi40 Center Channel Speaker
1 Boston Acoustics PV600 Powered Subwoofer
The seller (original owner) is asking $600.00 for the system stated above. Ive done research on different speaker brands and Polk is on top of my list. Although I cant afford the new RTi series, I can definitely go for more dated models. Any feedback on this potential purchase will be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks.

Buy it..
List them on ebay the same night.
IMO
You could get a good 250-300 + S on the RTi70
150+S on the RTI38
200ish on the CSi40
Im sure atleast 150 out of the Boston Acoustics, minimum - not familiar with the model. Could be more...
By that math...
Thats 200 bucks in your pocket.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
Thanks all for the comments. It really helps. It is indeed a good buy considering I might be able to get it for less than $600.00 after negotiating with the seller. Now this is my other dilemma. I’m currently using a 14’X 13’ room with 9’ ceiling in my basement for HT. Is the RTi system too big for my current HT space? Initially I was looking at the more compact satellite/subwoofer system like the Polk RM6800 and RM6900 before I did more research and came across this RTi speaker set up for sale. The WAF is not an issue since she’s ok with having bigger speakers in the basement area of our house. We might be moving to a bigger house in two years. The system will be used 65% for movies/tv and 35% for music.

Yall be fine.
My room is considerably smaller than yours. Haha
And Ive had basically that same system.... even had a "larger" setup....
Mains - Definitive Tech BP10B
Center - Def Tech CLR1000 (CSi40 equiv)
Surrounds - Def Tech BP6B (towers)
so... hehe... you can do alot in a small room.... may be a lil insane...- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
My room is smaller than yours & I have tower speakers. You will be fine. You will have an outstanding setup. What kind of receiver will you be using with the speakers?Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2

That is almost the exact setup I have in my theater, I just have RTi28 rears and FXi30 surrounds. You will love it. It is a great setup, and I have through quite a few of them!"People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf." George Orwell

I don't have an A/V receiver yet but I have my attention focused on the Pioneer VSX-1016TX. I believe this receiver is a good match for the Polks but please, feel free to comment on other possible options.
Well, it's done. I just spoke with the seller over the phone (a bachelor with no kids or pets living within a 30-mile radius), he's the original owner and purchased the Polk system (except the Boston Acoustic sub) in 2003 from Circuit City. He still has the receipts, manuals, the original packaging, and a 5-year extended warranty from CC. The speakers are packed inside their corresponding boxes and the components and cabinets are in like-new condition with no scratches, dust or stains (he states only about 100 hours of play time). He took my final offer of $550.00 and will meet this Sunday at his place for the exchange. Needless to say I'm pretty exited about this purchase and the acquisition of what seems to be a slightly used but well taken care of Polk RTi system. Thanks all again for your input and comments, which were a significant factor in my final purchase decision. I'm very grateful. -
Thats a great deal. Match them up with a Denon 28/38 series AVR and you'll be smilin' from ear to ear.:DEverytime I think I'm out, THEY PULL ME BACK IN!!!!!!

Or hook em up to a Pioneer Elite VSX-82txs.... yummy.
My only suggestion is this. DON'T WAIT UNTIL SUNDAY! If he is within thirty miles, GO NOW! Good deals tend to wash up if you don't move quickly."People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf." George Orwell -

Hi , I need advise on which middle speakers to buy. I anve a Sony STR-DE995 Receiver 7.1 110 watts per channel. A Sony 50'' wega projection TV/. On boxing day I bought qty 4 ( M20 speakers ) and a center CSI3 and got a free PWS10 subwoofer from the store. I am running M20 in front and back ,CSI3 center and PWS10 still in box because considering a more powerful unit maybe PWS12. Here my question.....which middle speakers should I buy.
I was thinking on buying 2 Monitors 30 or 40 or RTI4 or RTI6 . Any thought out there, just in case someone has something close to me....I need help...tks...Domenic
