Hughesnet Satellite Internet Question.

Just curious if anyone here can tell me what kind of wiring is used between the satellite dish and the receiver/modem, and also how many runs are required.

My parents are building a new house in a rural area and would like to pre-install the wiring to avoid excess mess around the exterior of their new house.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Dave

i would look into Wild Blue. I have it and i am pretty happy with it. I believe that it rates better than Hughesnet. It takes two coax cables i believe 3ghz.

So just two RG-6 lines. That's what I was guessing, but I couldn't seem to find any details about it elsewhere.

Seems like wild blue is about $10/mo cheaper on the base package, but the same on their higher speed options.

Also when you say they get higher ratings, what are you referring to? Customer service, connections speeds, etc...??????

    Thanks

    Hello

I also had Wildblue for about a year, had very good luck with it although there wasn't as many people on my beam as there was over in the Eastern part of the US. They had some issues with overloading the beams. They also just launched a new satellite so I would think the overcrowding issues shouldn't be a problem now.

Heres a forum that I frequented quite a bit when I had it:

    http://www.dslreports.com/forum/wildblue

    And this one:

The only reason I quit it is because our local ISP rolled out their wireless dsl so I switched over to that.

Are either of you able to receive TV over the same dish? I had someone try to tell me that they had DirectTV and Internet over the same dish, but from what I have read you have to have two separate dishes. Is that not the case?

BTW....What direction does your dish point??
