I've got a TT and am trying to find a vintage Marantz receiver. I want a modest system for my study, which is 12x12. What Polk speakers do you think would best suit the small environment. Size (small) does matter in this instance. Thanks for your advice.

More info would help. Do you wanna buy new or used? What is your budget? New is nice because you can walk into a retail outlet and audition them (well some you can) and visually see how big they are and how they would fit in your study. Used is nice because you can save a few bucks. Polk has a wide array to choose from

Find a nice pair of RT25is. Most vintage Marantz would push them easily. If the Marantz will do 4 ohm the LSi7 would be a good choice.

Must admit that receiver is more important right now than speakers. I can already hear the argument regarding that statement; however, I have my heart set on a vintage Marantz and it will come first. Budget depends on how much it sets me back. In short, speakers will most likely have to be used.

I agree with the RT25is or RT25s. These are frequently up for sale on ebay, here, or elsewhere and I have picked up several pairs in the last year or two in the $75 to $125 price range. They are small for the sound, easy to power, and great for near-field listening in a small room or study. I think I actually prefer the RT25s slightly. The trilam tweeters in the RT25is sometimes sound ever-so-slightly sibilant when you are sitting close to them.
