I thought I remember reading online a while back that the Iraqi insurgent sniper rifle of choice was the older SVD's thus meaning that round could have been and probably was a 7.62mm.
I'm probably wrong but I thought I remember reading about it somewhere in a weapons cache that the US seized. -

Doubtful. I'm sure it's shatterproof just like the glass in your car. Doesn't mean a bullet won't penetrate it if it's hit enough times or if it's jacketed (AP), but not before the FPS was extremely slowed. No doubt it could still kill you.
