Hello all,

Will someone please help me out with the answers to a couple of questions?
I have a Pioneer VSX1016TXV-k 7.1 surround receiver (120 watts per channelx7). I have ordered a set of Polk RTi12s for the front and have a CS400i for the center. I have four Polk Monitor 40 speakers for the rear and side surruond. a Yahama YST SW315 250 watt self powered downfiring subwoofer finishes it.....almost. I ordered (with some feedback from friends) an Audiosource amp300 power amplifier (300 watts 2 channel) for the Polk RTi12s. I was told that they would sound MUCH better with a little more power. Will this work out OK and not make the RTi12s sound great while the other speakers sound "starved" for power? With the exception of the center channel, the other speakers are rated for 150 watts max anyway. The RTi12 are rated 500 watts max. Now I'm hearing that it may sound un-balanced and things like that. Overpowering fronts is another term that was brought up. Any feedback will be GREATLY appreciated>

Thanks,
Robert Judd

Welcome Robert, you are just fine. After all your gear is set up,you trim the speaker levels thru your AVR so you won't have an off balance of sound.Your doing fine....by the way, your posting in the wrong spot.Normally,we hang people upside down by their big toe and sling monkey do-do at you, but, seeing as you are new,we can cut ya some slack! Enjoy:)

Robert - welcome to club Polk.

As Tony said - you will be fine and your 12's will sound great. Your other speakers will sound better as well since your AVR will not be sending most of its power trying to run the 12's. Let us know what you think when the amp arives.

Next big upgrade for you should be your subwoofer. You have a great system there and the sub seems to currently be your weak link. No hurry though - enjoy your system.

Thanks a bunch guys!!! By the way Tony, where should I post any questions from now on? I am VERY new at this "forum" stuff. I sure don't want to offend anyone. Seems like a bunch of nice, helpful people!! Lots of good experienced audio folks that I could learn a lot from.
