I bought an SACD today, Dark side of the Moon of course. I'll give it a thorough listen when I get some alone time (we've got family here right now). I'm going to cue up DSOTM on my CEC/Benchmark, and the SACD version on my Denon 2910, and do some A/B'ing...

Let us know if it's true ,the redbook layer has no dynamics due to heavy compression.

congrats. you will love it. REGARDS SNOWWell, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all

You can't do that without . . . well ya know . . . HOW MUCH????Where did you get it??? -
I picked it up at hastings, $14.99. It's not a hybrid disc--SACD only. Still haven't had a chance to listen to it at levels where I can really appreciate it--but at lower levels, it sounds real good so far. It appears to have a very soft, listenable sound to it that reminds me of analog, but again, haven't had an opportunity to listen at realistic levels.
