Just curious if you did more comparison listening between 990 and 3806 and which one you are keeping.
    Thanks

I am very interested in this comparison as well.

I can get a used 3806 for a decent price, but i have a Outlaw Audio 750 amp so i could spend the extra money for dedicated pre-amp like the outlaw 990.

I am keeping the 3806. I just sent the outlaw back the other day. They both sound similar. The outlaw might be a bit better at higher frequencies, but the denon sounded like it had more dynamic range. Also the denon passes 1080p video and multichannel pcm via hdmi, therefore I wont need to buy a new pre amp for a long long time (I dont want to use the cheap DACs from a hd-dvd or blu-ray player and a ps3 only uses hdmi). The 3806 is the cheapest denon receiver that has the higher end DACs. Deep down, i knew that if i bough the outlaw, i would just end up replacing it next year with a hdmi prepro. Now i know i wont have to do that. Also, it is my opinion that the differences in processors in this price range is nothing compared to room treatments. So i think my final solution is the 3806, with tons of high current amplification, and lots and lots of room treatments. hope this helps.
