Competing with MOMO MM120s
Systems

I just bought 4 MOMO MM120s and I'm looking to build a box in my 98 Dodge Neon to compete in local SPL Competitions. I'm powering all 4 off of 2 MTX Thunder81000Ds and I'm steering more towards a sealed enclosure..
Has anyone out there competed with MOMOs before?
And if so...how well did you/they do?
thanks,
Nick

I haven't competed with my MM120's, but I've had them in two different cars now with totally different setups. The first was a sealed/vented box design (see the file 'pic2') that was a little too small, volume-wise and just didn't work as well as what my installer buddy Chris did for my new Altima, which is separate sealed boxes in each rear corner of the trunk. (w/ 4 MM120s, you might want two sealed enclosures w/ 2 subs each, I would think)
Changing from an Eclipse 55040 head unit to the Alpine CDA-7873 also made a difference, too. The Bass Engine seems really great. In both cars I've been powering my MM120's with a Phoenix Gold ZX600ti amp 300w x 2-ch., RMS. It really hits hard, but perfectly clean in my Altima.
I can get some pictures of my current setup in a couple days if you want (it's in the body shop getting fixed after somebody broadsided me in the front passenger door (thank God it wasn't my trunk!). Send me an email and let me know."Deke", a.k.a. Dedrick J Lund

Is the top portion of the box you showed open on both sides or is one side closed and the side showing the only one open? And how did this box preform? P.S. Thanks for the pic., I've been looking for something a little different to show off my beautiful baskets!

The top portion of the box is open on both sides. (see attached picture pic 1 where u can look thru open speaker hole to garage floor behind)
The box performed really well. I never did a dB measurement or anything on it, but it hit pretty hard and was clean. Still, I don't think I even heard the full potential the box had.
I found out later (only upon removing the subs from the box to begin my setup in my new car) that the original installers never sealed the box completely. They never sealed the holes through which the speaker wire came in from the amp to the subs. I'm sure it would have been a substantial gain in SPL if they had done that!
It'd be a bad-**** looking setup w/ two MM120s and red neons mounted inside!
