Splitting a Digital Coax

Hi Guys,
I recently acquired a universal player (Denon 2900) that I would like to use as a dvd player and a cd player (redbook) The Denon has 1 coax and 1 optical output. I would like to use coax for both music and movies. 1 coax would go to my Bel Canto Dac 1.1 for redbook, the other coax to my Outlaw 950 for HT use. Do they make a splitter that can be used for this prupose. I do not know if the standard RCA splitters will work because they are probably not 75ohm.

Any thoughts on this. I did a search but could not find a solution. Thanks

run coax to your Bel Canto.. and optical to your Outlaw 950 won't that work?

    Hi Danger,
Yes, that is what I do now but I prefer coax sound and the connection is stronger imho. I added the Denon last night and now have a nice ground loop to deal with.

Impact Acoustics makes a very nice quartz-glass toslink (SonicWave). I have one, very well built and sounds....well.....like nothing; absolutely neutral presenation. I'll never use an electrical connection again to my DAC. The toslink's turrets are spring loaded so they make a pressure fit against the emitting diode and the receiver, supposedly to reduce the chance of refraction error.

Ground loop? where is that coming from? You may have to turn off one of the components hooked up to your Denon DVD player.. i would think if you had both outputs on at the same time.. you could run into a ground loop problem.

    Hi Danger,
I think I narrowed the loop to the cable line going into the tv. Now that I use a universal player, the dac and 2 channel pre and my Outlaw 950 are now all connected. I disconnected the cable line to the tv and the hum disappeared. I guess the hum traveled down the component lines into the 950 and the Denon and then all over the place.

I was under the impression that an optical cable cannot conduct electricity, if so, won't both outputs (coax & opt from the Denon) being on at the same time not be an issue?

    Hi Steve,
Thanks for the info, I will have to check out that toslink. If I go that route, I will then have to run a coax to the Outlaw 950. I tried a Monster optical to the dac and a coax to the 954, but it did not solve the ground loop. It looks like a cablevision issue. Now that I have narrowed the culprit, I am not sure if I should get a rat shack GL Isolater or try to run the cable into by Belkin first then to the tv. I presume going to the Belkin will send the signal to the Belkin grounging and may solve the issue. I guess the best issue is to just sell my whole rig and get HTIB. I must need more coffee because I am talking like a crazy person.
