This is probably a dumb question. I have an..ehh..alright surround system and wanting to upgrade my ps 2 cables (not quite ready for the PS3 yet) to make my video games sound better on my surround system. I've seen some pretty nice monster cables for the ps 2 but they're all connected together. What I mean by connected together is the cables that come with the playstation itself it (red, white, yellow) can be pulled apart to be able to put the yellow in my TV and the red & white in my receiver. How can I buy the nice monster cables and have the sound still come out in my receiver?

I have video hook ups in the back of my receiver but if I hook up the video as well as the audio hook ups in my receiver how will the video part of it work? I'm confused on all of this.
Don't forget to look at My Home Theater :D

Receiver - Onkyo TX-SR503
Fronts - Polk Audio Monitor 40
Center - Polk Audio CS1
Surrounds - Paradigm Cinema ADP
Subwoofer - Velodyne VRP-1200

    Hello

This is what I used on mine:

I ran the components to the tv and the optic cable to the receiver. The optic cable is seperate from the video cable. Does your receiver have an optic input and what inputs are on your television?

Never mind about the optic cable input question, rather obvious that you have one:)

I looked at your receiver and you can run your component to there too if you want and then out to your tv, that is if you have component hookup on your television.....

    Like this:

If you have a unused optical in use a optical cable, if you don't you can get the monster cables and get two couplers. Hookup the component video to the tv, then the L-R audio to the two couplers, and then two extra wires to the receiver. This is what I used to do when my system consisted of a PS2, a 20in Apex, and a Sony minisystem.

Judging by my experience, I would try to get something other than Monster Cable. I bought the component video cable by them for my Xbox and after awhile I didn't have video anymore. Come to find out that the solder inside the cable connector came apart. I probably unpluged it from my TV a maximum of 5 times. All I know is that it was a waste of $80. Just sharing my experience. If you do get Monster, I wish you better luck.

I guess what I am really asking is how can I hook up one of those monster video game cables and have the video input as well as the audio input going to my receiver. Cause that's the only way I can have my audio coming out my surround speakers right?

Plug the PS end into the PS and the opposite ends plug the l & r in the receiver and also the video in the receiver?

Why don't you want to use the optical setup for the ps2? You just use a standard optical cable, plug it into the ps2 and then into your receiver. Thats the best way to get the sound for your surround setup....

As far as video do you have a yellow input for video on the receiver and a yellow monitor output? What kind of TV do you have?

Hey OK I got my audio dilemma solved. I'm just using my Monster Optical cable on my system. OK now.....my boys (11,8) have a mutual HTIB system that I bought for their room. I wanna now upgrade their PS 2 to work with their surround system. They unfortunately dont have the red, white, yellow cables that come with the PS 2, they have an RF Adapter. So my question is.....what can I do for them? I want the yellow end of the cables to go to their TV and the red and white to go to their receiver. How can I accomplish this?

What do you mean by this? I have both on my receiver. I've got Video 1, Video 2, DVD, and Monitor Out video inputs. What can I do with these? Can I hook my PS 2 video cable to any of these?
