Bought a *mint* pair of RT800's on CL a few months ago for $200 and adore them. But now, with my ears not as completely blown away as they were, and more of a growing idea that I know what people are complaining about with the muddy low/mid-bass, I might be vulnerable.

Then I find a pair of mint RT2000p's on CL for just $500 the other day (damn that recent thread about the 800's vs. the 2000's!!). What happened to "good enough?" I don't think my little apartment could take it (my neighbors certainly couldn't!)

Please save me from myself - if the snowball gets started, I don't see it stopping anytime soon :D

You'll get no help from me. I say go all out and put any guilt you may have aside. Life is too short to not have awesome sounding music.

    Don't scratch the itch.

Get a Bowie knife and dig at it. Remove a pound of flesh, take a huge bite out of it, and growl like a wild animal as you heave the remaining flesh at your 800's.
Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service.

If I wasn't paying for braces and a lazya$$ 20 yr old step son who can't "find" a job I'd be doing it in a heartbeat. Let the urge guide you but
shop around a little. Make sure it's what you want. I find the chase to be as much fun as the purchase. Then 6 months from now you'll start the process all over 'cause that familiar little feeling will be back and you gotta take care of it.

I prefer the RT3000p because it is twice the speaker that the RT800s are, but if you REALLY can't find a pair of those... Plus, powered speakers(or partially) have always been a good idea. What better way to power speakers to their recommended specs than from the factory!

I was going to mention giving up my smack habit, smoking, thrill seeking, and orgiastic sex addiction, but with this crowd..... :D

It's not the money stopping me (not that I'm loaded, but I can definitely justify a $300 upgrade for something I love). It's more the output of those speakers vs. the size of my apartment and having neighbors. Just from checking the specs and relative size, I'd have to put them inches from the wall in a listening area that's only about 10 feet deep (but about 30 feet wide - it's a long apartment). And I have neighbors on all sides!

It would be like driving a Ferrari through a 25mph zone with speed bumps.......but then again I'd still have a Ferarri :D:D:D

I'll let ya all know. With any luck, he's sold them already!

See, You just have to become really good friends with the neighbors. Then they will want to ride in your Ferrari and begin to except your disregard of speed limits.

Still has em. I'm auditioning them Friday. Just how much am I going to like these things? I have to overhype them ahead of time so I can keep some sort of poker face during the sale :)
