question about db1000s

I've got a '98 Accord LX sedan, with Polk db650s in the front doors (db690s in the rear deck). My dash has enclosures for tweeter size speakers, and with the 650s being so close to my feet, I hardly even notice them (the 690s overpower them).

My question is, I heard from someone that adding the db1000s would be a nice compliment to add/bring out some volume/highs to the front that I'm currently missing. BUT....he also seemed to indicate that by adding a set of tweeters, that the tweeter in the 650s would be useless. In other words, the db1000s that I'm looking at adding would REPLACE the tweeters in the 650s (NOT "add to" them), thus making the 650s essentially a "woofer only" type component. Is that correct? Or would the 650s continue to work as they normally do?

Thanks
