With the addition of the Shanling, it caused me to have to rearrange my rack -
Now the preamp has to sit on the amp -
The Khartago I consider to be luke warm to the touch when really working - hardly hot to the touch - but the preamp does get a lil warm overtime when listening...
Any thoughts?

If it were me, I would look at another rack. The rack that I purchased can easily be expanded to add another shelf. To each his own, but I personally would NOT stack gear.Michael
In the beginning, all knowledge was new!

If you have to stack them for awhile, cut a couple pieces of cloth for the legs of the preamp to keep the rubber from leaving marks once they warm a little. My Stratos has permanent rubber marks from another Stratus being stacked on top. The heat isn't enough to worry about, just the marking of great gear.HT Optoma HD25 LV on 80" DIY Screen, Anthem MRX 300 Receiver, Pioneer Elite BDP 51FD Polk CS350LS, Polk SDA1C, Polk FX300, Polk RT55, Dual EBS Adire Shiva 320watt tuned to 17hz, ICs-DIY Twisted Prs, Speaker-Raymond Cable

I don`t like to stack, but if you must...get a mouse pad, cut into small circles or squares and use for padding where the feet are until you can get a dedicated shelf for each piece....
remember that the amp needs to breath...
and the heat is not good for the bottom of the pre

I won't stack but in the current configuration I had to so I purchased these Isoblocks from Mapleshade. The work very well plus they raise the stacked gear up a few inches. I believe you can stack two Isoblocks and get even more space between the pre and amp. They are a rather inexpensive ($24 per four) tweak.

Sid,
Its not a good idea.
Rack space is always a premium, can you get an amp stand to free up a rack shelf? Put the amp on the stand in front of the rack if wall space is an issue, or move the rack to a side wall and put the amp between the speakers.

I was afraid of this... *sigh*
Ill try getting some spacers to get the preamp a good 1-2" off the amp, if that dosnt seem to work... Ill try out making an amp stand... 4 pieces of MDF glued together cased out in oak/walnut should do the trick... hehe- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Hockey pucks---no joke---work real well for spacing equipment that has to be stacked, and won't mar your finish. Just an FYI.
