surplus lengths of various power cords from your equipment? How do you tidy it up?
Apart from buying custom length power cords to replace the stock cords that came with your various devices, what is the best way of controling the "snake pit"?
IC's are no great problem as it is easy to get cables made to length. Speaker wire is the same, except that I know enough not to coil any extra wire to avoid "ground looping" as I believe it is called. But what about power cords? Can you control the length of each one by bundling them up and applying zip ties or Velcro straps?
Currently all my IC's are away from the power lines and the speaker cables are away from everything else. What is the proper way to coil/shorten a power cord? This has been bothering me for a while now. Yeah, I'm a little anal when it comes to cable length. (Freud would have a field day with that one:) )

zip ties I assume would be the most popular choice around here.

I have yet to see anyone who cuts the wires of their equipment and shortens them using their own plug although I am sure it is possible.

Personally I just zip tie them all underneath my audio rack and leave just enough wire to make it to the outlet.
