question on impedance

ok i noticed that if i buy 2 plain 12'' dbs the impedences on them is 4 ohms but if i get the box from polk its two, is it just a matter of wiring a certain way? cause im probally going to get 2 12'' momos or dbs with no box. originally i was gonna get the dbs in the polk box with a kicker 750.1
will 2 12'' momos and the 750.1 (2 ohms) work together?

    Very cool link Russ. That pretty much explains it.

    You should read that Accord to get a good understanding of impedance but the short answer is yes. A pair of DB 12's each with a single voice coil will be a 2 ohm load if wired in parallel.

    ok i get everything now except svc and dvc, whats the main difference and is one better sounding or what?

    An SVC is short for single voice coil and DVC is short for dual voice coil.

    For short if you buy an 4 ohm svc then it would take two of these to get a 2 ohm load to an amp.

    If you get a 4ohm DVC then you can have your amp see a 4ohm load from this singel sub or wire the two 4 ohm Voice coils on this sub to show your amp a 2ohm load from this single sub.

    As for SQ I do not think there is a difference just more flexabilty for your amp and install, making them great subs to change amps out or add subs being that you will have more options.

    The enclosure actually changes the behavior of the driver(s) and alters their impedance.
