You're allowed the bad day at work, especially in retail!

What he said, no known connection between MTX and Polk.

The stuff that they come out with may look cool, but it's just always seem cheap to me, no matter what they do. It is strange thought how similar it is... Give it a shot if you want, their stuff isn't that expensive so if the curiosity is killing you, do what you must...

I went into an HH Greg the other day trying to find some closeout Polks for my family's modest home system and the salesguy steered me toward some dual 6.5" MTX towers on sale. They looked decent for the most part but I'm not about to touch their new foray into home speakers when there's so much other good stuff out there.

That said, the car audio amps they made a few years ago were peerless in value, durability, and output power. The 500D is one of the best sub amps for under $400 ever made.

MTX is junk.......you get what you pay for. Polk still remains the best value out there for common folk speakers. Polk has been doing it right for about 30 years and believe me that not only counts for something but all you have to do is listen.
"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Differentiation by numbers is for those who do not".--Nelson Pass Pass Labs XA25 | EE Avant Pre | EE Mini Max Supreme DAC | MIT Shotgun S1 | Pangea AC14SE MKII | Legend L600 | BlueSound Node 3 - Tubes add soul!

i agree with you there nothing sounds like a polk in my opinion, they are without a doubt the best sounding speakers i have ever heard. and i heard a pair of paradigem the other day they were to bright for me not enough warmth. the polks have the warmth i love.
