Ok, if I were to stray from what Ive kinda already decided on (Outlaw Audio), what 2 Channel amps does everyone recommend? I want at least 300 Wpc @4 Ohms. I may also get a 5 channel amp with the same power output, so if you have any recommendations send those as well.

Thanks,

Josh

amps like most things take a huge nose dive after they have been opened up. if your stuck on new i guess thats that. but i will never buy new again myself. i can get so much more for if i buy like new condition amps pre speakers etc. for 2300.00 you can get one hell of a nice used amp. lots better than the outlaw. Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

here is a few names to check. anthem. classe. adcom.some very nice amps can be had on ebay or audigon for 2300.00 or less in the 2 channel class with these names. here is a classe 5 channel 180wpc at 8 0hms 360wpc into 4 ohms amp i think this would suit most peoples needs for a very long time. http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?ampsmult&1173848878 REGARDS SNOW

In total agreement here as well. When the 2CH rig gets fully assembled the Cary amp will be used. People who own high end gear (and other things as well) usually take care of them.

Yeah, Im not totally against buying a used product, but I do like the feeling of having a warranty just in case... Seems like I always end up on the bad side of any deal..

Would be nice if some of these pages had some damn prices on them!! Every amp that has been suggested has looked nice and fits exactly what I'm looking for; however, none of them have a price!

well if they did have the price listed it would MFSR and not exactly real world which would be less of course.

Once you find the amp you like.. go online and check for authorized dealers in your area. I highly doubt places like Best Buy and Circuit City will be where you will be looking. :p

check here too.. they have the prices listed at least. http://www.onecall.com/ProductSearch.aspx?N=255&Ne=7&menu=true

The main reason is because, at the price you're looking at, these are sold almost exclusively through physical dealers. You're at a lucky price range, I gotta tell you.

I would seriously think of buying a used Classe or Ayre product.

I would shoot a PM to the owner of this Ayre V-5x amplifier and ask if he'll take $2300 plush S/H... this is one helluva a monster amp. I don't think you can honestly get a better value for your money in this case, since it retails for normally for 4 grand.

Talk to okiepolkie- he does bryston. If he can't hook you up with a 4b in your budegt, don't hesitate to buy used- the 20 year warranty is fully transferable if it was bought from an authorized seller on the first sale, or the date code is before the begining of 2006.

I've got a 4b sst and love it.

BTW: MSRP on the bryston is a little over $3k, dealer cost is around $2100, i think.

Someone already mentioned Sunfire which I will second ...

Used 5-7 channel 200 wpc @ 8 ohm CG's can be found on eBay or aGon/vGon for ~$1000.

Used 5-7 channel 400+ wpc @ 8 ohm CG Signature's can be found for roughly twice that.

Those prices are 1/3 to 1/2 of what you'd pay for new.

If you looked at the ones I have you wouldn't be able to tell they didn't come home from some store yesterday.

You can get more info at Sunfire's site or by following the link from my sig below for the signature amp.

With regards to having a warranty ... Sunfire gives an original, not really transferable 5 year warranty. But how they deal with owners is if you are not the original owner they will add 6 months onto how old they know the amp is from the serial number and then treat you accordingly ... I had a problem with one of my amps that I bought used and they repaired it and shipped it back to me for nothing. All I paid for was the shipping to get it to them.

All manufactures may not be this generous ... But most are more interested in their gear working they then are in sockin it to you for repairs ...

He's authorized and highly recommended. I've done several thousand worth of purchases from him.

Another plus for bryston- they're engineered to push well over their advertised specs. If sony were promoting the 4b they'd call it "600 watts"

Hey guys, I haven't posted here in a long time. My question is closely related to the one in this thread, so I thought I'd just piggyback this question into this thread.

For Christmas, I bought myself a Denon 3806 AV Receiver which I am still playing around with trying to figure out all the settings on. I decided to use the pre-amp out to drive my RTi70s front main speakers through a Yamaha MX600U amp which I've had for a while. I'll use the Denon 3806 to drive my center channel, CSi30, and rear surrounds Fxi30s? I think (I bought them used off of ebay and don't remember now for sure if they are 30s or 50s.)

Anyway, I had planned to use the Yammie amp to drive a new pair of Polk in ceiling speakers that I plan to put in my bedroom ceiling. So, I'm thinking about buying another power amp to replace the Yammie to drive the front mains. I have no problem buying used. I've bought several things used off of ebay, and so far have not had any problems.

I want to be sure that the new amp will drive LSi115's which is what I'd like to eventually get. So I know that the amp will have to be able to drive a 4 ohm load. I guess that I'm looking for something in the range of 200 wpc into 8 ohms.

Suggestions? There are always used Adcoms out there and I've recently been insterested in Parasound because AudioAdvisor sells them, but I haven't heard anyone here mention Parasound. Thanks.
    Robert
