Dont know much about it but my older 1910 is a solid player. Plus the 1930 has DVD-A and SACD. HDMI upconversion 720p, 1080i and 1080p. And at that price point, looks like a good add to the market. Also looks to have the newer Faroujda chip.

Any thoughts?

The peeps @ AVSforum seem to think its a pretty good player. A couple of them prefer it over Oppo.

I am a big fan of Denon DVD players. Oppo supposedly has very good PQ but they are lightweights and I wonder about build quality and long term reliability.

denon has always made quality dvd players. in the long term the denon is maybe a better choice for you.since you have had problems with the 981 by oppo with your display.perhaps if you have the additional funds buy them both the 970 and the 1930ci and return one of them. REGARDS SNOW
Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

Well if the Oppo doesnt work out, I think the 1930ci will be my next purchase.

Andrew, what did you have before? To compare it to?

I got one for Christmas, I really like this little unit... A little weird to get setup for my SACD's but a very good option for those looking. I love mine so far...
