Blues Recommendations?

Just wondering if there are any big Blues fans here that could offer some suggestions. I'm actually asking because I would like to pick up some albums as a gift for my uncle. I'm primarily looking for older classic blues that I could obtain of vinyl since he was just recently given a Music Hall MMF-5 by his wife.

So any older "must haves" that I should look for?
I also wouldn't be opposed to one or two hard to find collectibles.

Thanks in advance!:)
Dave

    Simply put, You can't go wrong with Eric Clapton. He is an excellent blues guitarist, as most people know and then I'd work myself over to Muddy Waters, and grab his live album Muddy "Mississippi" Waters Live... which is truly excellent.
    Lovin that music year after year.

    I think BlueMDPicker captured a lot of the good ones. BB King Live at the Regal is one of my favorites. Robert Johnson is about as classic as they come. My pick for Buddy Guy albums is Buddy and the Juniors. Has Buddy, Junior Wells and Junior Mance playing together in a real intimate atmosphere. Also: Willie Dixon- I Am the Blues
    Hooker and Heat (not quite as classic, though)
    Wristwatch--->Crisco

    wow some really great replys there. im not sure if eric claptons crossroads album is avilable on vinyl but if it is, then that would be a great choice. it has many of those mentioned earlier here. REGARDS SNOW
    Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

    You want blues on vinyl that sounds good, look for stuff on Alligator Records. Try Hound Dog Taylor & The Houserockers. About ten years ago, me and my 76 year old neighbor Ted Jackson (a REAL, dyed in the wool R & B man, we are just white boys playing make-believe) were in my stereo room. I had found an unopened copy of one of Hound Dog's LP's and put it on. The music JUMPED off that vinyl, and one look at Teddy told me he was going home with that album. I had to tape it onto cassette for myself before he left.

    Some of the guys here were fortunate enough to meet Ted at my home. Doro, F1nut, Antny, and Lou.

    Yeah, Alligator is good for blues vinyl as are Blind Pig, Arhoolie, Rounder, Stax, Northern, and Trixx.

    BTW - I have a mint copy of that Hound Dog Taylor album, George.
