no the game would have to be on one of your designated hi-def channels in order for you to see it.

I think you missed a concept. The HD channels are separate channels with their own program schedule.
Many of the HD channels will have a corresponding standard definition channel in the lower numbers, and the program schedule usually matches, but it doesn't have to.
In my case:
701 HBOHD matches 201 HBO
702 WCBSDT matches 2 WCBS
703 SHOWHD matches 221 SHOW
704 WNBCDT matches 4 WNBC
705 WNYWDT matches 3 WNYW
706 DHD doesn't match 15 DSC
707 WABCDT matches 7 WABC
709 UHD universal hd ??
710 TNTHD is an upscale 14 TNT
711 WPIXHD matches 11 WPIX
712 MSGHD usually matches 68 MSG
713 WNETDT sometimes matches 13 WNETWin7 Media Center -> Onkyo TXSR702 -> Polk Rti70 -
I know with comcast if you go to their website and type in your zip code they will show you the corresponding HD channels for your STD channels and what is available if you upgrade this and that, etc....
I am sure Time Warner is the same way. Try their website. -
What I don't get is how much control the local station or cable company has over things. I know all of my local broadcast stations (ABC,NBC,CBS,FOX) all air HD programming usually during primetime. However, sometimes I'll see a show like Wheel of Fortune say its broadcast in HD at the beginning of the show, but when I flip over to the HD version of that channel, its not! Does the local station/cable company get to pick and choose which shows it will broadcast in HD?
This is all with cable by the way. My tv doesn't have a built in tuner so I can't test to see if it really is being broadcast over the air in HD.
