Watching the national championship game Monday night and my receiver all of a sudden turns off. I tried turning it back on, but each time it would turn back off. I unhooked everything, but still got the same results. Anyway, it's in for service and hopefully I won't be without it for too long. I'm mainly just sharing my bad fortune, but if anyone has any ideas on what happened, I'd be interested to hear them. The good news is that this all happened with only 3:00 left in the game.

how loud where you listening to it.. and what type of speakers do you have connected to it? it sounds like it was a power issue.. whereby the speakers were demanding to much from the receiver. causing it to go into what's called protect mode. usually though.. once you turn the receiver off and wait a couple minutes.. it's ok till it happens again. or it may not happen again.l

Tough to find a power issue with a 7300, those things are BEASTS.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

I think a output transistor and or driver bias transistor has "**** the Bed" If going on then off the receiver see's a power issue and is turning itself off.

Maybe a BEAST but everything can DIE. ;)

I have LSi7's, LSiC, Bose 301 for surrounds (my next upgrade), SVS Plus 12/2.I was listening at a low volume because everyone else was in bed...maybe -35 from reference. I usually watch movies at -20, but very seldom ever turn it up any more than that. Not sure if I stated the values correctly, but hopefully you know what I mean. I'm guessing this is something that should be repairable??

    Thanks.

With Harman Kardon, it may very well be a heating issue. Those puppies run hot all the way down the line. I can only imagine how hot the 7300 gets....

Is there enough clearance on all sides?

edit: does this model have a built-in cooling fan?
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

I should have plenty of clearance. About 20" above, 6" on one side, basically open on the other, and 4" in back. It's in an open audio rack. It does have a built in cooling fan.

Make no mistake though, it does run very warm even with what I consider proper ventilation.
