I just had my tweeters replaced on my RT800's and I was told the replacements are silk. With this being the case, I want to match a new center channel to my RT800's that now have silk tweeters. What would be the best center channel to buy as a match?

A CS400 is the best matching center.

Most folks report not hearing much difference in the sound of the Tri-lam versus the silk replacement. I wouldn't worry about having the Tri-lam in the center, but if it bothers you, you could always replace it with the silk.

    Jason,

Thanks for the reply. Is there anything newer that is comparible to the CS400i? It seems very difficult to find one for sale. Looking to spend no more than $300.00

Well, I don't know my newer Polk products as well, but the CSi5 would be comparable, I guess. Certainly not as good a match as a CS400(i) (are your 800's i's?). More expensive, too. You should be able to find a 400 for less than $300 if you're patient enough watch and wait.

CS400 and 400i centers are typically going for around $200 on ebay. Within the budget and would be a great match.

I just picked up a CS300 (next smallest center from the same time period, but not as common) on ebay for around $100 to pair with some RT600s (hope to replace with 800s soon, just need to find some).
