Hi,

Has anybody tried using HD-XA1 as CD player and the connection that were used is the L/R analog cable instead of Digital Coax or Toslink?

Can you please share your impression, how does it sound? Appreciate any response.

Thanks,

YOU have one. all you need is a pair of interconnects. Try it and give us YOUR impression.

That's funny... but seriously, I would like to know how it fairs as a cd player as well. I posted a thread asking the exact same thing about the hd-a2 yesterday (no responses yet).

Sounds like a DVD player in its price range usually sounds with CD's. Very good performer, similar to the Denon DVD-2900 with CD's. About on par with a $400 solid state CD-only unit. Nothing special, but definitely sounds good. The only problem it has is the slow boot up time and slow loading time.

So if I need a source and can pick one up for $250usd NIB locally (from an auth dealer) should I jump on it? :D This would be the HD-A2*** This would be used only to play redbook cds.
