mixing the old with the new??
I was hoping for some opinions about an upgrade I plan for my old system. I currently have some pristine s10's for the front, monitor 4's for the rear, definitive technologies (c1)for the center and newly purchased psw10 sub to go with the new Pioneer vsx 816-k h/t receiver. should this system give me accurate sound reproduction? It will be set up in a 18'X20' room and I am learning how to set this up (researching here of course). My main concern is that I am reading mixed reviews on the sub and was wondering if anyone can shed some light on this and on the system in general. Thanks...J.P.

should be fine...the sub isn't bad at all. I find the Polk subs to be very musical.
I would look for a Polk center but other than that...looks good.

Thanks. I have read in some places that the user turns the sub all the way up and controls the gain/volume? from the receiver, what is the benefit if any? All I want is the subtle tight thump not overpowering muddy bass.
