Ok i have a onkyo 790 i got a set of infinity primus 360s
for christmas looking to upgrade the sound.
I use it mostly for music Rock and heavy metal and the
360s sounded like crap to me any way.
So i hooked up my sons polk R300s and they sounded b
better than the 360s.
So i sent the 360s back and now looking for towers
that will rock with a small buget of about $500.00.
Any help would be great.
Thanks jerry

If you want to play loud Rock music then the RTi line will do this, if you can do used the 500.00 will go quite a ways. Polk has done some outstanding bookshelf speakers in the RTi line, such as the RT55i and the RTi 6, 35i and so on. You can find them on Audiogon.com and of course ebay. As for towers, the RTi 150's are big beefy speakers, they are all pretty good, the RTi line is crisp on the top end and needs volume to really sound full.

For rock the monitor line is awesome. (not the new monitor line that you see at circut city - the old monitor line like the 10b's that were from the 80's.) You can usually pick them up pretty cheap (couple hundred bucks) and they sound great for rock. If you find them a little to bright you can replace the tweeters in them for new silk dome tweeters from polk for about another $100. (for 2 tweets).

Just saying don't be afraid to look at some of the older lines from Polk, they were really great.
