Swapping RTi`s to LSi`s...Thoughts and/or Opinions
It`s that time again when I just can`t seem to leave things alone, or make a decision on what I want to do , so I thought I`d toss it out for discussion...
Current set-up:
Toshiba 36" CRT
Denon 3803
Yammie DVD S796
Parasound HCA 2205 5ch amp
Basic Monster cables & jumpers (speaks)
AQ Diamondback I/C`s
Better Cables (sub cable)
Current Speakers:
CSi 40 Center
RTi 55 L/R Front
RTi 38 L/R Rear
SVS PC-Ultra Sub
Speakers in waiting:
LsiC Center
LSi 9 L/R Front
LSi 7 L/R Rear
SVS PC Ultra Sub
Sidelined Speaks:
RTi 2000
FXi 30
SVS PB-10
I will be upgrading to better speaker cable as I find the right set-up and placement of my HT gear....probably going to get AQ type 4, as it is a bargain for buying in bulk, and it`s not Monster....
My pondering includes adding the FX`s to the mix, or just going with the LSi`s, and finding a LSi FX later..
I know ya can`t hook both 4 & 8 ohm speaks to the amp at the same time, so A/B ing is a real pain...
I know it`s been discussed before and I know that ultimately my ears will tell me what to do, but.....
whaddaya think..
are the LSi`s up to HT duty ?
Room is approx 14x24....8-10 ft vaulted ceilings
I`m gonna take the RTi`s out and watch THE INCREDIBLES with the LSi`s hooked up, as I know what the RTi`s sound like...
We shall see....

I would take out the RTi's. Just one question. Why can't you have 4/8 speakers on the same amp? Would the individual channels not adjust accordingly.Michael

okay, they are up and running, and first off they seem to loose some info..
maybe I`m just used to the "brightness" of the RTi`s...
I`ll finish the movie and see what happens...Cary SLP-98L F1 DC Pre Amp (Jag Blue)

Perhaps it depends on the Amp. I have had LSi & RTi speakers all connected to my Proceed 5CH Amp and never had a problem.Michael

Let us know what happens and how you like the sound of LSI in comparison to the RTi. Also are these brand new LSI speakers?
Have they been broken in?Click here To see My system

Going from RTi's to LSi's there will be an adjustment period. It won't take too long but be sure to give the LSi's a good chance for your ears to "break in" to them. I had the exact same problem going from the sl2000 tweet to the Vifa and I now think the Vifa is to die for. So smooth and incredibly detailed. Voices have never sounded clearer. I also believe they are a tad more forgiving of poorer recordings."Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Differentiation by numbers is for those who do not".--Nelson Pass Pass Labs XA25 | EE Avant Pre | EE Mini Max Supreme DAC | MIT Shotgun S1 | Pangea AC14SE MKII | Legend L600 | BlueSound Node 3 - Tubes add soul! -

No they are not new...
They have been broken in...mainly from the 2 ch rig....except the LSiC of course..!!
I have played a few movies, and like you were saying...after a while you get used to them and they sound pretty damn good !
I`m finding the RTi`s to be a bit harsh after using the LSi`s for a whileCary SLP-98L F1 DC Pre Amp (Jag Blue)
