Okay here's a dumb question.
I have a Denon AVR1803 with 7 channels.
How is the power output for each channel managed by the amp's internals, are they independant channels or one main power source electronically divided.
The reason i am asking, i have just hooked up a Audiosource AMP300 to drive just the fronts...so, is this helping my amp by doing less work or do i now have 2 L&R channels doing nothing (other than delivering the signal via speaker level to the AMP300).

You are relieving the power supply of your Denon by using outboard power amps, but using speaker level to power the external amps may be a source for higher noise and potentially less quality than the Denon delivered on its own within its power limits. More hum, hiss, etc.

Thanks that's what i wanted to know. I'm using speaker level because Denon AVR1803 has no pre out's. It has zone 2, but i have it set up as 7.1, so zone 2 is used for rear channel. There is a slight hiss from the tweats but i can live with it.
Anyone got any tricks for getting a L + R RCA output from a AVR1803 in 7.1 mode?

It takes major surgery to access the signal in a receiver prior to the amp section. I'd shine it up and trade up for a higher level model.

Thats what i thought, and that was my plan. I am going to go in the direction of seperates for future upgrades.
