Speaker placements

Brand newbie here...my ? for those in the know. Can I place my front speakers (RM6005) on top of my Mitsubishi 65 projection TV without losing quality sound or should I break down and buy some stands for them ?? Getting the best sound is essential seeing as it was a hard sell convincing the wife that surround speakers was a must for high-def viewing and dvd watching and listening. Thanks.

A center could go over or under but should be at ear level or directed at ear level ...

The L & R fronts should be on ear level and farther apart then the width of the screen will allow.
