A friend of mine wants to sell me his some polk speakers. He has 2 RT16's, a CS350LS center, and a PSW300 sub. I'm new to polk and just looking for some input on these speakers.

They sound terrific to me, but wanted to see what the community thoughts on these were. Also he's asking 50% of msrp, do polks generally hold there value this well?

Thanks

they are older Polks of course. Most of us don't know what 50% or MSRP would be.. so give us some clue.. the RT16's are a fave of alot of folks.. plus since he's your friend.. you would not have to pay any shipping costs. which can be high.

you can always sell the center or subwoofer if you didn't like them. but the RT16's would be a keeper for sure.

good luck. and welcome to Club Polk. :)

seems high $ to me.. i don't own any RT16's.. but that seems to high. the CS400 also seems a bit high.. closer to $175 to $200 would be better.. as for the sub.. that's high as well.

sorry but that's my take on the deal. see if he'll knock off a good chunk of change on all of it. or only buy the ones you want. plus offer him some beer.. ;):p

hehe, yeah beer always is a good alternative for payment  hopefully he'll come down a bit..I pretty well convinced myself to at least buy the RT16's.

If I just bought the RT16's, would it be difficult in finding a new center and surrounds that match up nicely to them?

Be careful on buying the CS350 I fried all 4 drivers! I would not buy another, not used! $225 is way too much!! It cost me $150 to fix it! I paid $300 when it was new on e-b-y!

I've seen the CS350LS selling on e-bay for 250-400 dollars so I would say it's in the ball park.

Those price seem high to me, too, but availability might not be as easy to come by in your neck of the woods.

You could almost piece together an LSI setup for those prices. . . I've seen LSi9s for $400 often, Lsi7s for cheaper than that, and LsiC can't be too much more than $225 used.

I'd pass on his offer if you're looking for best "bang for your buck." But, if you really like the setup, it would be more convenient to buy it whole than piece together everything used off ebay, our FM and audiogon.
