WTB: Lower end AVR

Anybody have an AVR they would be willing to part with, say in the 100-150 dollar range? I'm looking for one for my dad to push some polks! Obviously, entry level here. Anything that could handle 5.1 with RTi8's up front probably.

Let me know if there is one out there or if anybody has any good ideas!

Thanks,

David

I have a JVC RX-884VBK that I would sell you for $100 + shipping. It is in great shape. I replaced it with my H/K 635. Check out the JVC specs at:
    http://www.jvc.com/product.jsp?modelId=MODL005045&pathId=5&page=2&archive=true

It has been a good receiver for me. Let me know what you think. I'm not sure if the value is right for $100, but for less than $100 I will probably keep it and find some use around the house.

Anyone else know if this is a decent AVR that could handle the load of the RTi8's and also throw in some other little Polks for surrounds and still be able to push everything?

My folks are over 50, so it's not like they would be blasting the roof off... or would they? :) The secret life of the parent... :D

My additional 2 cents.... I drove the speakers in my sig with this receiver. It handles the load just fine. it doesn't have the presence of the HK that I now have and I doubt it has the power stated in the specs, but before I got the HK I thought it sounded great! I have played it pretty damn loud and never had an audible problem with clipping or anything. It seems to have a pretty hefty power supply too. I bet it weighs 30 pounds. I think it would be a great deal for $100 really.

Wow. I think that both deals are pretty sweet. I like Pioneer over JVC, but maybe that is just an uneducated thing to say, I dunno.

That Elite goes for almost 1500 new?! What's the condition on it powerlord? Any pics?

EDIT: What part of OK are you in? I have a sister in Tinker Airforce Base. You anywhere near that? Let me know.

I would love to sell you my JVC, but the Pioneer would be much nicer. (man, what an awesome salesman I am)

    Mark, Email sent.

a_mattison, I appreciate the offer. For a hundred bucks more, I think the Pioneer is well worth the cash. I'll keep ya in mind though, if anyone else pops up needing a good entry level receiver.

    Cheers!

Just wanted to post out here what a great guy Mark (powerlord) is. My sister lives right across from Tinker, and when I bought this AVR from him, he waited until she came to pick it up before unhooking it... demo'ed it for her and her husband, and was an all around gentleman. Or so I was told. I suppose he could have bribed her to report good things, but alas... :D

+1 sent to Shack via PM buddy. If you are ever in town, you have a drink on me!
