Dts?

We got our first DVD player earlier this year, and have to this point purchased about 35 DVDs. We also regularly rent.

I looked through our collection last night and didn't see one, not one, that was labeled DTS.

Given that my system and setup is a compromise between "best location" vs. life and kids and all that, I don't know that I would be able to discern subtle differences between DTS from DD, but my receiver is new and I have yet to see that "DTS" light go on...

What DTS DVD would you recommend to check this feature out?

Pearl Harbor has DTS and is great in DD, but I can't listen to dts mode because my Cal Audio does not have that decoder. I'm looking for a new DVD thats progressive scan and does all the dvd, cd types....

I personally think the best movie in DTS is the "fast an the furious" and "behind enemy lines" F&F is definitely a no brain movie, but sound wise it just plain kicks ****. BEL I thought the explosions were very very good, and the SAM part of the movie is some of the best I have heard.

I have pearl harbor I have yet to listen to it in DTS because I dont have 3+ hours to watch a movie.

    Some other DTS movies

    Unbreakable
    Gladiator
    Seven (Platinum Series)
    Terminator 2 (Ultimate edition)
    Coyote Ugly
    Remember the Titans
    Sean

Thanks for the suggestions... we've seen most of those, but NOT since upgrading to the new setup. And, surprisingly, we don't own any of them yet (although my wife thought Moulin Rouge would be a good addition). I'm glad to see this list... as a WWII buff (and sappy movie critic) from way way back.. I just don't think I could have sat through Pearl Harbor again.

My bad on SW:TPM, no dts track only dd, but...a dd track that will give any dts track a run for it's money.

I still wish TPM had a DTS track. I have to crank up the volume way high to hear it decently. Usually with the DTS movies I have, I have to turn down the volume.

The Haunting - it's DTS 6.1 only. Holy cow does this DVD pack a motherlode of deep, menacing, ultrapowerful bass. The "coming mother" scene will knock you out of the room if your sub is up to the task. Special effects are very good also.

Doc I can not find the Haunting in DTS only in DD. What version is it on? Collectors, directors, or standard?

She is quite cool! Leaves me to my buisiness and stays with hers. Much better than the wife. Marriage should be a thing of the past. Well it is for me anyway.
