I just spent all my $$$ on a used B&K ST-202 amp and now my problem is where to put it. Of course I'll need to buy an audio rack, but until then- is it ok to use it placed on it's side? Anybody try this before or is it a bad idea? It will arrive on Friday.:D

I did it before and was told it was a bad idea, because the heat can`t escape through the venting holes correctlyCary SLP-98L F1 DC Pre Amp (Jag Blue)

I didn't know there was a correct way for heat to escape through the venting holes? As long as there is proper ventilation, I wouldn't think it would be a problem.

That's the point isn't it!?! Heat escapes by convection. If the amp is on it's side where is the air flow going to come from?Political Correctness'.........defined

Artificially. He could use fans, but I still would never recommend mounting an amp on it's side.

Or use a separate amp stand ...
