You wouldnt build the entire enclosure out of plexiglass, just one panel like the top.

Years ago a friend of mine had a competition setup in his Izuzu lowrider pickup. He had 12, 12" Lanzar subs in the bed in an all plexiglass enclosure (whole bed) ported through to the cab. The materials to make the box was astronomical it was all 1" thick arcrylic from what I remember, just the back of the box (the part you see when you open the tailgate) was $350 and this was easily 13 years ago!

That was one HELL of a system! All Lanzar OptiDrive amps, Lanzar subs, Sony ES 8" Midbass in the doors and 6.5" ES Components, ES Head unit and a Phantom.

And so much dynamat that when the windows were up you would never know there was a system in the vehicle aside from the beads on the rearview mirror jumping like crazy :)

I saw a system like that with a pair of 8" subs in what appeared to be a plexiglass bandpass box. This was back in 1991 or so. It was in a Supra and it did get loud.
