Nabbed the Samsung DLP

Well, after a ton of research I decided to go with the 50" Samsung DLP (HL-S5086W). Sears locally, price matched Circuit City, who had it on sale for $1299, plus I got a $125 discount on top, so I got it for $1174. I pick it up Wednesday (they had none on-hand).

Now I need to get with Cox Cable and get digital cable/HDTV service going.

Congrats; have you considered just using an antenna to get local channels HD? It has worked great for me, and no fees :)

Wow Steve...you're probably going to have a hard time sleeping tonight knowing that you stole that thing!

Congrats on the new tele...the swap out for a new HD box from Cox is pretty simple. It has HDMI out, so remember to get the cable if you want to utilize this connection.

seems like everyone is dropping their pants on the pricing on these things, is it because CES is a couple of weeks away? Even amazon.comis doing the 5087 1080p unit in that price range, pretty nuts how fast the pricing is falling!

I'm pretty damn excited, the wait until Wednesday is killing me...:D

What got me going on this was a recent hotel stay. They had a 42" LG LCD TV in the room, it only took about 12 seconds of Discovery HD channel to convince me it was time to go for it. It was addictive. I sat in bed watching it for hours, I couldn't go to sleep.

I've gotten so I don't even like watching normal 480p broadcasting. I hear the best HD is OTA, but I haven't confirmed that yet.

    Great Deal, Bubba.

Digital Natural Image Engine ... It's sort of like an automated torch setting ... :D

When you have a chance spend some time with calibration ... It's worth the effort ...

Hey............thanks for answering my question. YES, I hear a lot about calibration. What is exactly calibration for TV's mean? What do you have to do and how do you do it? Sorry for the stupid questions I'm new to LCD and Plasma displayes.

    Thanks
